This September, American Legion Post 214 proudly recognizes our Veteran Hero of the Month Rob Gabbard. A dedicated patriot whose service, leadership, and commitment to community reflect the very best of the American spirit.
Our honoree has shown unwavering devotion to their country throughout their military career in the Army National Guard and continues to embody those values long after their time in uniform. Their legacy is built on courage, sacrifice, and a steadfast determination to support fellow veterans and strengthen the community around them.
Whether through acts of leadership, mentorship, or quiet kindness, they remind us that true service doesn’t end with retirement—it lives on in the way one uplifts others. Their presence at Post 214 enriches our mission and inspires all who have the privilege of knowing them.
Rob spent 8 years in the Army National Guard. He served from 1984-1992 as an E4 CPL. He started in Indiana and moved to Florida where he was in a support battalion. He operated fuel trucks for 5-6 years and moved to Ohio and went into an infantry unit. Rob served as the NBC NCO and the Motorpool Sgt for 2 years. He ended his service as an Armorer. Rob has been married for 27 years. He has 6 kids, 9 grandkids and 2 big babies (Chaz & Beau – a pit mix and a husky/Shepherd Mix). In his spare time he is the VP of his bowling league.
